Arches!

Now on to Saturday.

We headed up to Moab, Utah to see the sites at Arches National Park. We rallied early for the 2 hour drive. Doing that with a three year old and two babies is an accomplishment in itself. After stopping for coffee on the way, we went to the visitor's center and then on to our hike up to Landscape Arch (while suffering through the dust created by the thousands of tourists because Daddy wanted to go on a cooler day). Writing that makes it sound like it was easy. It was not; Liora was not having a good day, so mommy was feeding her a bottle the whole drive up to the hike (missing the scenery). Poor Leo was sandwiched in between a screaming Liora (she has lungs) and a pretty laid back Sammy. He has gotten good at making ear muffs with his hands. (And Leo later learned the consequences of waking up Liora = WHAAAAA!!)

Once at the trailhead for Landscape Arch, we encountered crowds galore. We ate a quick lunch, then saddled up the babies, lathered ourselves with sunscreen, and started our hike. Liora was not a big fan. But she hung in there, making sure we knew when she wanted to eat, when she was ready to have a good time, and when she was ready to nap (sometimes all at the same time).

There were a few more hiccups on the way out of the park--involving infant and adult potty time. Somehow we all made it to dinner, where we relaxed and talked about getting ice cream (the grandpop clause - always get ice cream when the opportunity presents itself). We got some local made ice cream (Daddy had coffee bean ice cream which made him very awake), then went on the road for a long, long ride home.

We learned today to not mess with Liora's schedule too much. She was a bit of a basketcase really. Tears on the way home were not just hers, but mommy's as well!

So that we don't leave you that note, here are two videos, one of Liora eating her feet and one of Sammy's cooing...he should be recorded for movies, his coos are so sweet!
